Olympic sailboat racer to attend Lake Buchanan event

BUCHANAN DAM — Olympic gold medalist Paul Foerster will be at the Sept. 10-11 sailboat races on Lake Buchanan.

Foerster, who won gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics and silver medals at the 2000 games in Sydney and 1992 games in Barcelona, will race at the Lake Buchanan event in preparation for this year’s Pan American Games, according to a news release from the Lake Buchanan Sunfish Regatta.

He also will present a photo slideshow on his experiences at 7 p.m. Sept. 10.

The regatta will be at the Edgewater Resort off FM 261 on the west side of the lake. Races will be in the main basin of Lake Buchanan on Sept. 10 and the morning of Sept. 11 for Sunfish Class sailboats, according to the release.
