LEANDER — The Burnet High School varsity softball team was humming in its District 8-3A opener at Leander Rouse en route to a 3-0 victory.

“We were in control from the beginning,” said coach Amanda Carpenter, whose team improved to 13-6 overall. Sophomore Kristen Spinn pitched a complete seven-inning game shutout to get credit for the win.

The left-handed pitcher struck out seven batters, walked one and allowed three hits.
