Burnet’s defense, QB stand out in Wimberley scrimmage

WIMBERLEY — Class 3A football powerhouses Burnet High School and Wimberley lived up to their reputations when the two squared off against each other Aug. 23.

The only score of the scrimmage during the live quarters was a 25-yard field goal by Bulldogs junior kicker Austin Huff. The Bulldogs had missed a field goal earlier in the contest.

Head coach Kurt Jones said the two squads were evenly matched throughout the scrimmage, noting the first strings went against each other for two 15-play series and the second string had two 10-play series during the controlled portion of the scrimmage.
