DALLAS — Before the midway point of the first quarter, Dallas The Covenant had scored two touchdowns thanks to recovering a Faith Academy fumble and forcing a turnover on downs.

That foreshadowed the 54-8 Knight (10-1) win against the Flames (6-5,3-2) Nov. 12 in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. The loss ended Faith’s season.

The Covenant had the ball seven times in the first half and scored on six possessions.

Cameron Teaster scored on runs of 14 and 3 yards, while Ben Koop scored on a 1-yard run and a 2-yard run.

Claude Martin added a 4-yard touchdown run.

The only time the Knights didn’t score was when they fumbled, which was recovered by Faith sophomore Trey Cherry.

That led to the only Flames touchdown, an 8-yard reception to freshman Hanner Shipley from junior Jake Diamond.

The Covenant recovered the onside kick to start the second half and needed only four plays to score, highlighted by a 20-yard touchdown run by Matt Slaymaker.
