MARBLE FALLS — Just like 2010, the final week of the regular season has playoff implications for the Marble Falls High School football team.

With a win against Leander Vandegrift, the Mustangs (4-5, 1-4) can force a tie for fourth place, the final playoff berth from District 25-4A.

That’s because the Vipers (6-3, 2-3) only have two wins in district play, against Cedar Park Vista Ridge, 28-10, and Leander Rouse, 42-28.

VIsta Ridge’s (2-7, 1-4) only victory in the division came Sept. 23 against the Mustangs in 6-0 decision. With a victory against Leander Rouse, the Rangers can force a three-way tie for the final berth.

Unlike in 2010 when the Mustangs just needed to beat Vandegrift on the road to get into the playoffs, Marble Falls needs help this season.

Let’s take the easy part first.
