Mustangs face No. 1 Lake Travis
MARBLE FALLS — There’s plenty at stake for the Lake Travis football team when the Cavaliers (8-0, 4-0) welcome Marble Falls to Lake Travis ISD Stadium, 3322 RR 620 South.
There’s adding to their current 21-game winning streak and keeping their No. 1 ranking in Class 4A and improving on the No. 7 ranking by USA Today and No. 19 ranking by MaxPreps.Com.
But above all that is what seems to be a burning desire to do what no other Texas high school football team has ever accomplished — win five straight state titles.
The Cavaliers average 51 points a game and allow an average of 17 points a contest.
And they’ve done it with backup quarterback Baker Mayfield (137-198-2,135-5-23, 77-621-8) and sophomore running back Varshaun Nixon (74-614-6).
