BURNET — There were few bright spots for Burnet High School during their first game of the season.

Giddings High School beat the Bulldogs 35-19 during a nondistrict contest Friday at Bulldog Field.
It didn’t take Giddings long to do some damage. After nearly losing the ball on the opening kickoff, Giddings fullback Joseph Glenn swept wide to his right and sprinted 65 yards into the end zone.
The point-after touchdown boot by Buffaloes kicker Michael Rangel gave Giddings an early 7-0 lead.
Burnet responded quickly.
