Frances Decker, 96, of Llano died Jan. 12, 2016

Frances “Frankie” Decker passed away Jan. 12, 2016, after a life devoted to her family, church and friends. Frankie was born on a ranch near Pontotoc, Texas, on Jan. 7, 1920, to Sam and Lill Cooper Barton.
She and Rube W. Decker were married in Llano on Sept. 26, 1942. She was employed by Civil Service at Hondo Navigation School in Hondo as clerk stenographer during World War II, while Rube served as a paratrooper in the European Theater overseas.
They returned to Llano in August 1945 and opened their own business, Decks Butane Gas Co., and later added Whirlpool appliances. They worked side by side for 30 years in their business and retired in 1975.
Frankie was an active member at First Christian Church, was an elder emeritus and a church historian, taught Sunday school for 48 years and served on almost every committee in the church sometime or other. She loved doing for others.
She is survived by sons, Terry Decker and Rod Decker and wife Cynthia, all of Llano; grandsons, J.R. Decker and Ross Decker, both of Llano, and Mark Decker and wife Sara of Austin; great-grandson, John Decker; sister Dorothy Bransford of Austin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rube Decker; parents; brother, Douglas Barton; and sisters Sammy E. Cavness and Dean Sessom.
A graveside services is 2 p.m. Jan. 14 at Llano City Cemetery with the Rev. Gretel Morgan officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are her many family and friends.
