MARBLE FALLS — A 52-year-old racer died Aug. 9 after his boat crashed during LakeFest on Lake Marble Falls.

Marble Falls Police identified the driver as Mike Fry. According to Fry’s racing website, www.meanstreakracing.org, he started Mike Fry Racing in 2000. He was the owner and driver of Meanstreak II, the boat he was driving when it crashed about 10:30 a.m.

Rescue crews quickly pulled Fry from the wreckage and began treating him before Marble Falls Area EMS transported him to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Marble Falls, where he was pronounced dead.

Fry competed in the top-alcohol hydro division and was the points leader heading into LakeFest. According to his website, Fry was from California.

LakeFest is a three-day drag boat racing event on Lake Marble Falls.
