BURNET — Meals on Wheels is looking for delivery drivers, kitchen assistants and other volunteer help in Marble Falls and Burnet.

Paul Hicks, the Meals on Wheels manager for Burnet and Marble Falls, said drivers are needed for routes in both locations to serve homebound seniors Monday-Friday.

In Burnet, Meals on Wheels delivers more than 10,000 hot lunches each year from the Burnet Neighborhood Center, 102 E. Johnson St.

“It would be in Burnet and a little outside Burnet,” Hicks said. “All routes run about an hour.”

In Marble Falls, hot lunches are prepared and delivered weekdays from the Boys and Girls Club of the Highland Lakes-Marble Falls unit, 1701 Broadway.

The Marble Falls site also needs a driver to deliver once a week in Spicewood.

Drivers show up between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. each day in Burnet and Marble Falls to begin their routes. All drivers must be 18 and older, possess a valid driver’s license and pass a background check.

Volunteer kitchen help is also needed with food preparation in Burnet and Marble Falls, with the workday running from 8-10 a.m.

Additionally, Hicks said he is looking for volunteers to help with bingo and other senior activities at the Boys and Girls Club in Marble Falls starting at about 11 a.m. weekdays.

The local Meals on Wheels program is a division of Williamson Burnet County Opportunities.

For more information or to sign up, call Hicks at (512) 715-9717.

  1. My wife and I just completed AARP volunteer tax preparation at the Marble Falls Boys’ & Girls’ Club. We talked to the cooking staff there and they said you need people to deliver meals and/or provide grocery shopping service, including delivery, to participating seniors. We would like some more information, especially on the shopping aspects of volunteering. Please provide additional information so that we can consider more fully getting involved in your programs.
