FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — Chris Jost has resigned as the girls athletic coordinator and head basketball coach at Marble Falls High School to pursue other opportunities.

Jost announced his decision April 15.

“After the season ended, I recognized that I was ready for a new challenge, and after visiting with (athletic director and head football coach Matt) Green a couple of times this spring, we agreed that it was a good time to let the program move forward,” Jost said. “Basketball-wise, I feel that I’ve done all that I can do here at Marble Falls.”

Jost was hired by former athletic director Todd Dodge — whom he thanked along with Superintendent Rob O’Connor — in June 2012 and guided the Lady Mustangs to records of 19-14 overall and 5-7 in District 25-4A his first year. Marble Falls just missed the playoffs, needing to win two of its final three games to qualify.

The 2013-2014 Lady Mustangs posted records of 15-15 overall and 3-8 in district play.

Currently, the team is on a 15-game losing streak in district play.

The district has been dominated by Cedar Park Vista Ridge, which has been a top-five team in the state the past two seasons.

“We were very competitive my first two years, and we were able to beat some good teams on our home court,” Jost said. “I am proud that we were able to maintain three teams the past two seasons, and that we were able to gain back our freshman girls’ athletic period. We were also able to continue the great success of our varsity girls’ basketball tournament.”

Jost said he will look back on his time at Marble Falls fondly.

“Marble Falls has been a good place for my family,” he said. “I have enjoyed working with good kids, a supportive administration and a dedicated coaching staff.  We’ve made some good friends here as well.”
