Alan Dayton Akers, 82, of Kingsland died Jan. 23, 2015
Alan Dayton Akers passed away Jan. 23, 2015, at home after a brave fight against pancreatic cancer.
Born Sept. 17, 1932, in Kingman, Kansas, he is survived by his children, Kelly (Mark) Foley and Jamie (Dee) Angle; brother, Thomas (Deborah) Akers; four grandchildren, Josh and David Smith and Thomas and Danielle Foley; one niece, Carol Sue; and two nephews, John and Paul.
Alan served in the Armed Forces during the Korean War. He was a man of many talents. He possessed degrees in chemical engineering, law and business. He retired after many years in the patent field.
Alan was always an active member of the church, most recently Kingsland Community Church. He also was active in the Rotary Club for many years.
Alan will be remembered as a soft-spoken, kind man with a big heart. He always put others first and saw the good in everyone. He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor.
Most important, Alan was a loving family man. He was especially strong in his faith and considered a “man of God.”
