Churches, groups serving community Thanksgiving meals
Several churches and organizations in the Highland Lakes are serving free Thanksgiving meals to the community. Here are a few. If your church or group is serving a free meal to the community, please leave a note in the comments section with time, date and place.
BURNET
- NOV. 27, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Church of Christ, 102 S. Vanderveer St. The meal is sponsored by the Community Kitchen. For more information, call Joann Thomas at (512) 755-4548 or Nancy Heuss at (512) 755-4341.
KINGSLAND
- NOV. 23, 5 p.m., in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church, 3425 RR 1431. Everyone is invited. Those attending are welcome to bring food to share. Take-out boxes will not be available. For more information, go to www.firstkingsland.com or call (325) 388-4507.
MARBLE FALLS
- NOV. 22, 4-7 p.m., Lakeside Pavilion, 306 Buena Vista Drive. Everyone is invited. The meal is sponsored by H-E-B and hosted by St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
- NOV. 22, 11 a.m., at St. Frederick Baptist Church, 301 Ave. N in Marble Falls. Everyone is invited. For more information, call (830) 693-4499.
- NOV. 27, 1-3 p.m., at the Church of Christ, 711 Broadway. Everyone is invited for food and fellowship. A big-screen TV will be playing football. A private prayer room will be available. Call the church at (830) 693-5575 and leave a message for Cal Reed.
- Nov. 27, 2 p.m. at the Marble Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10376, 1001 Veterans Drive in Marble Falls. Meal is for veterans and their families and Patriots Club members. Post will provide turkey and trimmings. Bring covered dish if possible.

First United Methodist Church in Johnson City will host its annual Free Community Thanksgiving Potluck Feast from 11 to 2 Thanksgiving day. Turkeys — including a genuine jailbird cooked in the county jail kitchen — provided; bring a side dish and an appetite.
