MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls School boys basketball team finished the Smithville tournament with back-to-back wins after back-to-back losses Dec. 12-14.

“We’re a Jekyll and Hyde,” Mustangs head coach Neil Laminack said. “We’re either going to be the best team in the gym or the worst team in the gym. There’s no middle.”

The Mustangs defeated Austin Eastview 69-32 and Bellville 50-40 but lost to Caldwell 55-49 and Manor 88-44.

Laminack was pleased his players set aside fatigue and found ways to win. But they made one important change, he said.

“We got back to having fun,” he said.

Once the Mustangs did that, they made more shots, let their defense dictate their offense and showed better ball movement and moving without the ball, he said.

Laminack believes Manor is the top Class 4A team in the Austin area.
