MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls High School senior Amanda Thomas committed to play softball for the University of Texas at San Antonio on July 9.

“I love the coach, I love the campus,” she said. “I’m very excited.”

Thomas attended the softball camp, which she called “efficient and productive.”

“It made me a better player,” she said.

Thomas has been a three-year letterman for the Lady Mustangs as a pitcher, a catcher and a first baseman.

She was the winning pitcher (8-4) in leading Marble Falls to a bi-district championship against Austin Crockett after the Lady Mustangs finished fourth in District 25-4A play.

Her ability to play multiple positions didn’t hurt, Thomas said.

“That’s one of the reasons (UTSA) wanted me,” she said.

UTSA is a member of the Western Athletic Conference, which is in Division I.

The daughter of Gary and Traci Thomas will major in kinesiology and is leaning toward a career in physical therapy.

Once Thomas enrolls, she’ll be the second Mustang to be a Roadrunner this decade. Former wide receiver and current UTSA tight end David Morgan (2011) plays football.
