COTTONWOOD SHORES — The Cottonwood Shores library is open again with more changes to come.

The library had closed after a dispute between city leaders and the Friends of the Library group who operated it.

The organization removed equipment, including tables, chairs and computers from the library. The city owns the building.

The City Council voted June 6 to partner with a nonprofit organization to operate the newly renamed Cottonwood Shores Municipal Library.

Mayor Donald Orr said the library is open now from noon to 6 p.m. every day.

“We’re very fortunate in some residents making donations to allow us to put some tables and chairs back in there,” Orr said. “Computers are back in there. We’ve got this all back up and operating right now.”

Volunteers are continuing operations at the library. The council directed Orr, also acting as interim city administrator, to report on operating details at its next meeting.

Also during the June 6 meeting, the council voted to pave Brookwood Drive as part of its interlocal agreement with Burnet County. Leftover funds could go to repairs on Aspen and Pecan lanes if available, Orr said.

The council’s next scheduled meeting is June 20.
