Marble Falls High School students, staff holding contests for scholarship funds
FROM STAFF REPORTS
MARBLE FALLS — The annual battles at Marble Falls High School in Powder Puff football and Tuff Enuff are fast approaching.
The girls of the class of 2013 and 2014 start off the fundraisers by facing each other during a Powder Puff match at 7 p.m. May 18 at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.
The event benefits the Casey Rice Memorial Scholarship fund. Tickets are $2. In addition, volunteers will have a concession stand and will be selling hamburgers, co-organizer Trish Walker said.
The Marble Falls High School chess club is sponsoring a tournament, also on May 18, at the high school library, 2101 Mustang Drive, to benefit the Jimmy Strobo Memorial Scholarship. The entry fee is $10.
And on May 21, the boys of the class of 2013 face male faculty and staff members in a Tuff Enuff softball game that also benefits the Jimmy Strobo Memorial Scholarship at 4 p.m. at Scearce Field, 2101 Mustang Drive. Originally, the men also played a powder puff game but changed the format this year.
“(The) staff is getting older, and it’s getting harder,” Walker said.
Admission is by donation.
