Ponies finish with winning record

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls Middle School seventh-grade A football team finished a 5-3 campaign with a loss to the Westridge Wildcats, 22-0, Nov. 3. 

The Ponies turned the ball over on the Wildcat two-yard line trailing, 14-7, late in the third quarter in an attempt to tie the game.

Westridge scored a late touchdown with 1:27 left in the contest.

 Scoring for the Ponies were running back Garrett Gray on a six-yard run. The extra-point pass from quarterback Aiden Parnell to receiver Parker Heath was successful.

 The Ponies’ only two district losses came to the Westlake schools.

Coaches chose the entire team as outstanding players. On the offensive side, they include Parnell, running backs Carson Bowen, Austin Fryar and Devon Tharp; receivers Ben Mezger, Zach Atchison and Parker Heath; offensive linemen Bailey Jackson, Chase Fry, Lane Bishop, Josh Robles, Justin Despain and Josh Tovar.

Defensively, coaches singled out linemen Cody Skipper and Keeton Hahn; linebackers Garrett Gray, Tyler Lindholm, Israel Guzman, Josh Warren and Justin Torres; defensive backs Austin Bird, Cody Seelig, Ty Coffey and Steven Petroski.
