Ponies sweep three races
Three Pony teams finished first in their races.
“The kids did an awesome job,” coach Karen Naumann said.
The seventh-grade girls were led by Haley Stephens, who won the race at 13 minutes 30 seconds.
Haley Coulter was fourth in 14:04. Amanda Thomas was next in eighth place at 14:48. Julia Weber was 17th at 15:55. Lyndsie Long was 19th at 16:00, while Leah Greenwell was 23rd at 16:20. Tiffany Winters finished 26th at 16:49, Blanca Fonseca was 30th at 16:53, and Lauren Parten was 38th at 17:48.
Joe Portillo won the boys division in 12:40. Chris Rodriguez finished fourth in 13:03. J.T. Watson was eighth at 13:09. Brandon Garcia was next at 11th place at 13:21. Adrian Battles finished 19th at 13:22, Mike Stripling was 21st at 13:27, Austin Bird was 23rd at 13:28, Cody Skipper was 26th at 14:05, Aidin Parnell finished 30th at 14:23 and Bryan Miller was 28th at 14:36.
Luke Herring finished in 14:41, Cody Seeling was done in 15:01 and Alec Gonzales finished in 15:40.
As for the eighth-grade girls, Elsa Diaz was second at 13:42. Mary Myrick was seventh in 14:20, while Kelsey McCasland was eighth in 14:24. Kaitlyn Naumann was 12th at 14:51, while Jessica England was 13th at 14:55, and Kelsey Bauers was 31st at 16:17.
The Ponies now are preparing for the district meet at Lampasas Wednesday.
