Llano had a dominant running game, keeping the ball away from Burnet and allowed five first downs, coaches said.

Burnet suffered through eight penalties that hurt any chances of the team sustaining any drives.

The only success the white team had was on two screens — one to Aaron Johns for 50 yards and one to Colby Walker for eight yards — and a kick return by Walker.

“Our defense played very hard and gave up ground grudgingly, but were on the field much too long and too often from three Burnet turnovers,” coach Randall Alford said.

One was a fumble after a short gain, one was a blocked punt and the other was an interception.

“No doubt the worse game performance this year by the team after working very hard to improve from the previous week,” the coach said. “All committed to working better at getting off the ball on offense and playing their responsibility and tackling on defense.”

The coaches noted that Ryan Wiley, Billy Russworm, Cody Letterman, Jordan Barnard and Brandon Kardow improved in their defensive play.

They added better performances are needed from the offensive line and backs in their execution and blocking.
