Burnet High School students to host community cake picnic

The Burnet High School chapter of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will host a community cake picnic next month to benefit the organization and students involved. Tickets for the event are on sale now here.

The confectionary craze will take place at 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Burnet Community Center, 401 E. Jackson Street. Cake drop-off is at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 each.

Guests are required to bring a homemade or store-bought cake of their choosing, and are invited to snack on other attendees’ confections while chatting with community members.

“Bring your favorite homemade or store-bought cake,” reads a flyer for the event. “Set up your cake, mingle with other guests, and enjoy slices of all the different cakes. Each guest will receive a pizza box to pack up their favorite leftover cake slices and take them home.”

Additional guidelines on the size, labeling, and portioning of cakes will be provided after registering for the picnic.

FCCLA is a national career and technical organization that offers opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. FCCLA courses focus on various topics such as parenting, family relationships, nutrition, and fitness, developing students’ life skills.
