Sharing the Harvest could raise $50,000 or more for community programs and other needs after the Kingsland food pantry was selected for a $25,000 year-end matching grant.

The pantry was selected from more than 100 applicants for Create Healthy Foundation’s “Fuel to the Fire” initiative. The Fredericksburg-based foundation will match eligible donations made to Sharing the Harvest dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000.

Donations made from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 qualify for the match, meaning $25,000 raised locally would become $50,000 for the pantry.

Executive Director Cynthia Green said the money will support collaborations focused on nutrition, life skills and other community needs.

“There are so many wonderful collaborations taking place right now,” Green said. “Sharing the Harvest will utilize these funds for numerous collaborations that will empower the betterment of our community and provide programs to foster nutrition and enhance life skills.”

The funding also will help purchase tables and chairs for Sharing the Harvest’s free Community Thanksgiving Meal, scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at the pantry.

Sharing the Harvest, located at 2480 Rose Hill Drive in Kingsland, has reportedly served more than 35,000 people so far in 2026.
