The Marble Falls Independent School District recognized three of its alumni prior to the Marble Falls High School football homecoming game on Sept. 18, acknowledging them as 2026 Mustang Ambassadors.

The annual awards honor prominent Mustangs of the past who have continued to make contributions to the Marble Falls community. 

“(MFISD) takes great pride in the tradition of graduates who go on to serve, succeed and give back to our community in meaningful ways,” Superintendent Dr. Jeff Gasaway said in a media release.  “These remarkable individuals not only distinguish themselves through their accomplishments, but also stand as role models for today’s students and points of pride for our entire community.” 

The 2026 Mustang Ambassadors are:

Don Clark- Class of 1982

A lifelong Marble Falls resident, Clark attended welding classes at Austin Community College and built his career with Capital Marble & Granite, JM Huber Corporation, and MFISD as the assistant director of maintenance. 

Throughout his life, Clark has made giving back to his hometown a priority. He has coached youth baseball and softball, played Santa for MFISD organizations and the Walkway of Lights, worked countless youth events, volunteered at MFISD sporting events, and participated in community service activities throughout Marble Falls. 

Clark and his wife, Melinda, also a MFISD graduate, have raised a family with deep Mustang roots. Their children and grandchildren have continued the family tradition as MFISD students and graduates. 

When asked his favorite thing about Marble Falls, Clark summed it up with a phrase that means so much to this community: “Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang.” 

Craig Magerkurth- Class of 1984

After graduating from Marble Falls High School, Magerkurth attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1992 as class president. He later earned a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Missouri–Rolla. 

Magerkurth served 12 years in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, including an assignment in Italy overseeing design and construction for the U.S. Army’s European District. 

Following his military service, he built an accomplished career in construction program management, working for the cities of Anchorage and Chicago and the U.S. Department of Transportation, as well as serving in executive roles in IT and data science within the telecommunications industry. 

Magerkurth has continued that commitment to service here at home. He is a former YMCA of the Highland Lakes board member and has served on the Marble Falls City Council, including as mayor pro tem. Magerkurth and his wife, Mary, recently celebrated 30 years of marriage and are the proud parents of Kiley and Brody, who serve in the U.S. Air Force in Japan.

When he thinks back on his own days as a Mustang, Magerkurth said his favorite memory is leading the Fighting Mustang Band as drum major. 

Melissa Fletcher- Class of 2001

After graduating from Marble Falls High School, Fletcher earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas State University and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University. 

She began her career with MFISD at Spicewood Elementary School and later served the district as an instructional technologist before moving into campus administration. After serving as an assistant principal at both Colt Elementary School and Marble Falls Elementary School, Fletcher is now beginning her fifth year as principal of Colt. 

She has remained active in her schools and community through PTOs, district and campus committees, mentoring opportunities, and service as a Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association Region 13 board member. 

She and her husband, Austin, also an MFHS graduate, have a son, Landon, who is a current Mustang. Their family’s connection to MFISD spans generations, with Melissa’s mother and both of Austin’s parents having worked for the district. 

When asked her favorite thing about being a Mustang, Fletcher described “the incredible sense of community, connection, and pride. “Being a Mustang isn’t just where I went to school or where I work—it’s home, it’s family, and it’s a community I am proud to serve. Once a Mustang, always a Mustang!” she said.
