The final Chunk Your Junk events in Burnet are this September and October, giving residents two more opportunities to offload bulky waste before the city’s new solid waste provider begins operations on Nov. 1.

The events will run from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Oct. 3, at the city’s Northeast Facility, 3675 FM 963. Chunk Your Junk is for Burnet residents only and requires proof of residency.

Accepted items for disposal:

  • Appliances without freon
  • Debris
  • Brush
  • Household junk
  • Push mowers without oil or gas
  • Rimless tires (max of four per household)

NOT accepted for disposal:

  • Televisions
  • Computer screens
  • Batteries
  • Insecticides and herbicides
  • Construction debris
  • Tires with rims
  • Wet paint

Following the October Chunk Your Junk, the monthly event will be discontinued and replaced by a weekly curbside waste and brush collection service when the city’s new waste provider, Texas Disposal Systems, begins service.

In addition to the weekly pickups, the city has also planned a new Bring Your Brush event for residents who have large amounts of limbs, branches, and clippings, which will start in January 2027.
