The Llano County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspected domestic violence incident in Kingsland that ended with a shooting and the death of one of those involved.

According to a media release issued by LCSO on Thursday, Aug. 6, deputies responded at around 7:20 p.m. that day to reports of a “disturbance” at a home in the 1800 block of Greenwood Lane in Kingsland.

Officers stated that they heard a woman in distress inside the residence when they arrived at the residence and moments later heard a gunshot.

Inside, they found the woman “emotionally distraught” and a man with a gunshot wound to the head.

“Based on the initial investigation, it appears the female had been assaulted prior to the male sustaining what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” read the media release.

The woman involved was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The man involved, identified as Mackey Bolinger, was taken by “air ambulance” to an area hospital for treatment of his apparent gunshot wound. He had reportedly succumbed to his injuries as of Friday, Aug. 7.

According to LCSO, an active emergency protected order had been issued on July 18 to protect the woman involved in the incident.
