The hard work of 70 Marble Falls graduating seniors paid off on May 8 during the district’s annual Scholarship Awards Night, garnering over $250,000 in local scholarships with the help of the Marble Falls Education Foundation.
Together with outside opportunities from colleges and universities, nearly $930,000 in scholarships were awarded to district students throughout the year.
MFEF Director Jeanna Jette said that the scholarships would help create opportunities for students continuing their education without extra financial burden.
“Scholarship Awards Night is one of the most meaningful celebrations of the year, because it beautifully reflects the partnership between our schools and the community that surrounds and supports them,” Jette said. “We are grateful for the support of local businesses, organizations, and families whose generosity helps open doors for our students as they embark on their post-secondary education.”
On top of the locally-awarded $250,325 in scholarships, an additional $678,705 was gifted to students from universities and colleges, inching the district’s grand total of scholarships awarded to just shy of $1 million.
“We are incredibly proud of all (our students) have achieved and cannot wait to see the impact they will make as they step into this next chapter of their lives,” Jette said.
During the night of festivities, district staff also recognized the top ten percent of the graduating class, as well as the valedictorian, Chloe Brown, and salutatorian, Kate McCary.
