Highland Lakes football is back for 2026
Highland Lakes high school football teams take the field this week for the first games of the 2026 season. The Marble Falls Mustangs and Llano Yellowjackets will play at home, while the Burnet Bulldogs and Faith Academy Flames open the season on the road.
Marble Falls vs. Lockhart Lions (Home)
KICKOFF: 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28
WHERE: Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls

LAST SEASON: Marble Falls was 3-7 overall and 0-4 in District 4-4A.
Friday night brings a fresh start for the Mustangs, who look to turn the page after finishing 3-7 overall and 0-4 in district play last season. The Lions also are looking for a turnaround after going 1-9 overall and 1-7 in district play, making the season opener an early opportunity for both teams to start the new season on a positive note.
Burnet Bulldogs at Llano Yellowjackets
KICKOFF: 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28
WHERE: Jacket Stadium, 400 Texas 71 East in Llano
LAST SEASON: Burnet was 4-8 overall and 1-3 in District 4-4A. Llano was 13-2 overall and 5-0 in District 13-3A.
The Bulldogs will have an early opportunity to test themselves against a strong Yellowjackets squad that dominated their own district play last season. The Yellowjackets went 5-0 in District 13-3A and finished 13-2 overall, while Burnet went 1-3 in District 4-4A and 4-8 overall.
Faith Academy Flames at Founders Classical Academy Archers
KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28
WHERE: Founders Stadium, 1303 Leander Drive in Leander
LAST SEASON: Faith Academy was 11-2 overall 3-0 in TAPPS Division 2 District 4 (six-man).
The Flames open the season against the Archers, who also enjoyed a strong 2025 campaign. The Flames went 11-2 overall and 3-0 in district play last season, while the Archers finished 9-2 and 2-0. The matchup gives the Flames an early challenge on the road against a team with plenty of recent success.
