Lemonade stand for a cause

Since the summer of 2023, the Niswander kids have been offering cups of lemonade to golfers on the greens of Meadowlakes, raising money for local causes and their church.

Their stand just closed up shop for the year, hundreds of dollars worth of donations, most of which was given to the Highland Lakes Pregnancy and Life Center and tithed to Lake Shores Church

The Niswanders will return next summer, on the tee of hole 11 at the Hidden Falls Golf Club.

“We wanted to instill not just a business mindset in our kids,” Michael Niswander told DailyTrib. “We need to look at how we can help people. We’re teaching our kids to love Jesus and we want to share that with our community.”

The lemonade stand started as the family’s project, mostly operated by Guinevere, who was seven years old in 2023 when the stand first popped up. Now, she is 10, and has the help of her brothers Huxley, 7, and Irwin, 5. Little Jubilee, 3, also “helped” a little according to Michael.

The Niswanders don’t charge for the lemonade, but they do take donations. Their first year they donated about $200 to The Pregnancy and Life Center. This summer, they donated a total of $795.

Some of the profits went back into the lemonade stand to prepare it for next year, some went  to the family’s church, and the remainder was split among the young Niswanders as pocket money for whatever their hearts desire.
