‘Where’s the beef?’: Marble Falls Wendy’s project in limbo

A Wendy’s location was expected by May 2026 in Marble Falls, but construction on the iconic burger joint has yet to begin.

Project details submitted in January 2025 to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation showed plans for a Wendy’s to be built in Marble Falls starting in May 2025 and ending in May 2026. While some site work was done at 1409 U.S. 281 North, the restaurant was never built.

“Wendy’s corporate contacts have indicated that they are still moving forward,” Marble Falls Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Christian Fletcher told DailyTrib. “But, there are other entities looking at the site as well.”

Fletcher explained that it is common for plans to change when it comes to larger business chains.

“I think anytime you’re dealing with a national franchise there are a lot of people with decision making power,” he said.

Wendy’s previously had a Marble Falls location at 1309 Mormon Mill Road, next to Office Depot, but it closed in early 2015.
