Pedernales Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for its scholarship program for high school seniors through Feb. 25.

PEC plans to award up to $100,000 in scholarships this year to students pursuing education at a college, university, technical, or trade school. Graduating high school seniors from public, private, or homeschool programs are eligible to apply.

One of last year’s recipients was Marble Falls High School graduate Henry Vanicek, who is now studying entomology at Rice University.

“PEC’s scholarship has not only helped support my educational journey, it has also inspired me to become a change-maker for my community,” Vanicek wrote in a PEC media release.

Since the program began in 1999, PEC has awarded more than $1.6 million in scholarships to nearly 900 students.
