Local law enforcement found the body of a 23-year-old male on Tuesday, Jan. 20, on the old Inks bridge with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Members of the Llano County Sheriff’s Office and Burnet County Sheriff’s Office responded to the bridge, which sits beside the current Texas 29 bridge spanning Inks Lake, at approximately 8:09 a.m. on Tuesday to investigate the incident, finding an unresponsive male at the scene.

According to a Llano County Sheriff’s Office media release issued on Tuesday, this appears to be an isolated incident and there does not seem to be any immediate danger to the public.

The release also included resources for suicide prevention:

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family involved during this difficult time.”

“If you or someone you know may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress, help is available. Call or text 988 or reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, availabe 24/7, or visit 988lifeline.org for additional resources.”
