Big temperature swings to close out the holidays
Temperatures in the Highland Lakes area are expected to drop below freezing on Tuesday, Dec. 30 after an unseasonably warm Christmas holiday weekend, and then jump up again by Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, the highs in the Marble Falls area will likely reach 45 degrees on Monday, and 58 degrees on Tuesday, with the lows dropping to 33 degrees and 31 degrees respectively.
By Wednesday, freezing temperatures should dissipate, with lows rising back into the 40s and 50s for the foreseeable forecast. By Friday, the highs should be in the 80s.
This wild temperature shift comes after an 80-plus-degree Christmas in the Highland Lakes.
Other parts of the state have wilder forecasts, like in West Texas near the Guadalupe Mountains. That area is under a blizzard warning as of Monday and could see multiple inches of snow.
