The LakeRat Run Club will host its first official community event, the Reindeer 5K Dash, on Dec. 20 in downtown Marble Falls.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at the Downtown Beer Hall and will include face painting, market vendors, a photo booth, and an appearance from Santa. The run marks a milestone for the newly-registered nonprofit, which focuses on promoting health, consistency, and community connection. Registration for the Reindeer Dash is $40, with funds going back to supporting the club and its mission.

LakeRat Run Club was founded in March 2025 by Allie Cook, whose weekly meetups quickly grew as more residents sought motivation and community. Mariale Lopez joined soon after, helping the club expand partnerships and formalize its mission as a nonprofit dedicated to accessible wellness. The club normally offers free 1-mile, 2-mile, and 5K routes for all ages, welcoming walkers and runners of any pace.

“What started with a few runners has turned into a movement of connection and encouragement,” Lopez told DailyTrib. “Hosting our first official race is a major milestone and reflects our commitment to health, community, and bringing people together.”
