The 2025 high school football season is winding down for some Highland Lakes teams and winding up for others. Marble Falls plays their last game of the season on Friday, Burnet takes on state powerhouse Stephenville, Faith Academy faces their final district opponent before playoffs, and Llano may cinch up an undefeated run in district play.

Here are the Nov. 7 matchups:

Marble Falls Mustangs vs. Brownwood Lions

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. Friday

WHERE: Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls

LISTEN/WATCH: Listen to the contest on KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune or at KBEYFM.com starting with a 7 p.m. pregame show. Watch a livestream of the game at DailyTrib.com.

LAST WEEK: Lampasas 23, Marble Falls 16

Marble Falls (3-6 overall, 0-3 district) faces its final opponent of the year, Brownwood (5-4 overall, 2-1 district) on Friday for its last game of District 4-4A Division I play. The Mustangs are coming off of a great, close game against Lampasas (8-2 overall, 2-2 district) last week.

In an interview with head coach Keri Timmerman, KBEY 103.9 FM host Ben Shields had high praise for the Mustangs’ performance against the Badgers.

“I feel like this was the best played district ball game in the last three, four years on both sides of the ball,” Shields said.

Marble Falls lost 23-16, but it was anyone’s game until the very end. The Mustangs did far better against Lampasas than in the 2024 season when they were defeated 61-7.

“It felt like a win,” Timmerman said. “Our kids measured up.”

The Lampasas game came with a slight hiccup, with the teams playing on Saturday instead of Friday due to a lighting malfunction at Badger Field.

With the loss to Lampasas, the Mustangs will not be heading to the playoffs, making their Friday game against Brownwood the last of the 2025 season. Marble Falls lost to the Lions 42-14 when they last played each other in 2024.

Burnet Bulldogs at Stephenville Yellowjackets

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. Friday

On Friday, Burnet (3-6 overall, 1-2 district) plays district and state powerhouse Stephenville (9-0 overall, 3-0 district) for the final game of District 4-4A Division I play of the season. The Bulldogs are coming back from a bye week after falling to Brownwood (5-4 overall, 2-1 district) in their last game on Oct. 25.

“The week off was pretty good for us,” head coach Ben Speer told Shields in an interview.

Speer is now looking toward the Bulldog’s final district game and preparing for the playoffs. Their opponent, Stephenville, is currently ranked No. 2 in Class 4A Division I in the state according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

“You just look at (Stephenville) across the board and there is just not a weakness,” he said. “Yes, they are a tough team.”
