HCCT toasts ’70s songstress Karen Carpenter
 
                The Hill Country Community Theatre presents “A Night with Karen Carpenter,” a heartfelt tribute to one of the most beloved voices in pop music history. The Season 40 special event is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the nonprofit theater, 4003 FM 2147 West in Cottonwood Shores.

“A Night with Karen Carpenter” features live performances of more than two dozen of the singer’s most cherished hits, including the happy “Top of the World” and the haunting “Superstar.”
“This show captures the essence of Karen’s voice and the emotional connection her songs continue to bring,” said HCCT Executive Director Heidi Melton in a media release announcing the event. “It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia and live performance magic—and a wonderful addition to our milestone 40th season.”
The Hill Country Community Theatre celebrates 40 years this season. The 2025-26 lineup opened with “Young Frankenstein” (Oct. 17-Nov. 2) and continues with “Winter Wonderettes” (Dec. 5-21), “Lend Me a Tenor” (Feb. 6-22), “Lost in Yonkers” (April 10-26), “Into the Woods” (June 12-28), and “The Mystery of Irma Vepp—A Penny Dreadful” (Aug. 14-23).
Along with “A Night with Karen Carpenter,” other special events this season are the annual fundraiser with musical guest The Vinyl Stripes (Jan. 10), magician Zak Mirz (March 7), “A Night with William Shakespeare” (March 14-15), AKA presents “The Greatest Generation: Songs of the Forties” (May 2-3), and the youth production of “Newsies Jr.” (July 16-19).
