Cities across the Highland Lakes are celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7, with free fun and food. The annual national campaign aims to connect residents with their local first responders to build stronger communities and promote public safety.

The following local events are free and open to the public:

Marble Falls

5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday
First Methodist Church, 1101 Bluebonnet Drive

Meet local first responders and enjoy family-friendly fun.

Burnet

6-8 p.m. Tuesday
Main Street on the courthouse square

The Burnet police and fire departments will be on site for a community meet-and-greet during the city’s celebration, which includes booths, games, kid-friendly activities, and free food such as hot dogs, popcorn, and snow cones.

Granite Shoals

6-8 p.m. Tuesday
Quarry Park, 2221 N. Phillips Ranch Road

The Granite Shoals event not only includes police, fire, and EMS but also the city’s streets, utilities, and parks departments. A special committee made up of representatives from each city government division has been planning the celebration for six months.

Expect equipment displays from the Granite Shoals police and fire departments, Marble Falls Area EMS, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Enjoy free hot dogs, chips, and water served by the fire department.

Kid-friendly attractions include bounce houses, a dunk booth, snow cones provided by the city’s Code Enforcement Division, and goody bags containing coupons for a free pizza or Sonic slushie, stickers, and other small prizes.

The Granite Shoals Police Department will give away coloring books, FBI child-fingerprint kits, and raffle tickets for a chance to win one of six bicycles.

The Highland Lakes Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization and local businesses will offer additional treats and resources.

Llano

6-8 p.m.
Robinson Park, 123 Robinson Park Drive

Highlights of Llano’s National Night Out event are a glow-in-the-dark foam party—wear your swimsuits—and a visit by Smokey Bear. Enjoy free food and drinks and emergency vehicle displays.
