Marble Falls Pink Out a fun event with a serious message

The eighth annual Marble Falls Pink Out is Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Harmony Park, located downtown off Main Street. The city-hosted community event is held each October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is a fundraiser for local foundations. Admission is free.
The day’s festivities actually kick off at 10 a.m. with a skydiver launching from Granite Shoals and landing in front of the Marble Falls Fire Station, 700 Avenue N. Spectators are encouraged to arrive by 9:45 a.m. to park and be in place before the landing. Parking is available at the police and fire stations and Childers Baseball Park.
The evening’s main event downtown features food and drink vendors, games, and a variety of booths from local hospitals and medical professionals with information on breast cancer screenings and cancer in general. Members of Marble Falls Fire Rescue, Marble Falls Area EMS and the Marble Falls and Burnet police departments will be on site with activities and to engage with the community.
Adding to the fun is a dunk tank, where attendees can try their luck at dunking Marble Falls Mayor John Packer and Assistant Fire Chief Coy Guenter.
Across town, businesses and organizations have “pinked out” their buildings in a show of support for cancer survivors and fighters and to raise awareness.
