Help St. Peter’s Rise Against Hunger

Dozens of volunteers showed up for St. Peter’s Lutheran Church’s Rise Against Hunger Experience in 2024 to help package thousands of meals for those in need. The Marble Falls church hopes for a similar turnout this year, with more meals than ever needing to be packaged. Courtesy photo
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Marble Falls hosts its Rise Against Hunger Experience on Sunday, Oct. 5, when volunteers will package 20,000 meals for people in need.
The church, 1803 RR 1431, needs assistance between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sign up online through the Rise Against Hunger website.
St. Peter’s hopes for around 100 volunteers to make quick work of the massive undertaking.
The global Rise Against Hunger is on a mission to end world hunger. In 2024, the organization collected more than 2,139 metric-tons of food (4.7 million pounds), recorded over 54.3 million meals packaged, and benefited around 9.4 million people.
St. Peter’s made a significant jump in contributions this year, nearly doubling the 10,152 meals it packaged in 2024.
The meals consist of non-perishable foods such as dried rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a packet of essential vitamins and minerals. The packages will be shipped abroad to countries facing severe hunger and poverty.
A schedule for the St. Peter’s volunteer day is as follows:
- 8:30-9 a.m.—free breakfast
- 9-9:30 a.m.—worship
- 9:30 a.m.—sign in to volunteer
- 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.—package meals
- 12:30 p.m.—free lunch
A staffed nursery is available for children under the age of four.
