It’s Week 6 of the 2025 high school football season. Burnet hits the road on Oct. 3, while Marble Falls, Faith Academy, and Llano are home. The Yellowjackets begin district play Friday night, which is also homecoming.

The Mustangs (2-3) face the Devine Warhorses (1-4) on Friday at home after playing the past two games on the road. Marble Falls took a heavy loss to La Vernia (4-1) in Week 5.
“(La Vernia) is a really well-coached football team, and it’s a really strong football team,” head coach Keri Timmerman told KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune’s Ben Shields in an interview. “I’m excited for what I saw from our kids. We played all four quarters. We came out healthy, and we came out wiser.”
This week, Marble Falls gets a shot at redemption after losing a last-minute 28-27 contest against Devine in 2024.
“We’re just ready to show up on Friday and see what they got,” Timmerman said. “It was a fun football game last year. We feel like, this year, we are a more conditioned football team and we’re ready to go.”
This will be the last non-district game for the Mustangs, who face off against the Burnet Bulldogs on Oct. 10 in the Battle of Burnet County and the teams’ first district game of 2025.
Burnet Bulldogs vs. Lake View Chiefs
KICKOFF: 7 p.m. Friday
WHERE: San Angelo Stadium, 1919 Knickerbocker Road in San Angelo

LAST WEEK: Gatesville 15, Burnet 9
The Bulldogs (1-4) are taking a long trip Friday night to San Angelo to face the Lake View Chiefs (4-1) for the last non-district game. In Week 5, Burnet lost a close contest to the Gatesville Hornets (5-0) in the final seconds of the game.
“(Gatesville is) a really good team, and our kids just played their tails off,” head coach Ben Speer told KBEY’s Ben Shields in an interview.
The Bulldogs tied the game 9-9 but gave up a late Hornets touchdown in the last 40 seconds.
This week, Speer is looking to fine-tune his team before district play begins.
“I think we’re better than we were last week,” he said. “We need to be hitting on all cylinders by the time Marble Falls comes to town next week.”
Before they face the Mustangs, the Bulldogs will have to tangle with the Chiefs, who Burnet beat 57-14 in 2024.
