The Hill Country Community Theatre opens its 40th anniversary season with Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny musical “Young Frankenstein.” The production runs Oct. 17 through Nov. 2 with showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays at the theater, 4003 FM 2147 West in Cottonwood Shores.

Tickets go on sale to donors at noon Monday, Sept. 29, then to season ticket and Flex Pass holders on Oct. 1, and finally the general public on Oct. 6.

Based on the classic 1974 comedy film of the same name, “Young Frankenstein” follows Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”), grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, as he reluctantly inherits his family’s Transylvania estate. With the help of sidekick Igor, lovely lab assistant Inga, and the mysterious Frau Blücher, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist business after all—bringing to life a creature that’s as hilarious as it is horrifying.

With witty dialogue, outrageous musical numbers, and Brooks’ signature style, this PG-13-rated production promises an evening full of laughter and surprises.

“This show is the perfect way to kick off our 40th anniversary season,” said HCCT Executive Director Heidi Melton in a media release. “It’s funny, outrageous, and an absolute crowd-pleaser. We’re thrilled to bring this classic Mel Brooks comedy to life on our stage.”

The HCCT encourages patrons to become a Season 40 donor to take advantage of early ticket access and other special benefits.

“There’s still time to join our donor family,” Melton said. “It’s a wonderful way to support local theater while enjoying exclusive perks like advance ticketing.”

The rest of the 2025-26 lineup features “Winter Wonderettes” (Dec. 5-21), “Lend Me a Tenor” (Feb. 6-22), “Lost in Yonkers” (April 10-26), “Into the Woods” (June 12-28), and “They Mystery of Irma Vepp—A Penny Dreadful” (Aug. 14-23).
