The Marble Falls Mustangs and Burnet Bulldogs face off for the 2025 Battle of the Cans food drive, now through Oct. 8. The two school districts, with help from the fans, are competing to see which one can collect the most non-perishable items for local pantries.

The friendly competition, which started Wednesday, Sept. 24, is in its fourth year.

The community can get involved by bringing food to any Marble Falls or Burnet campus. Marble Falls donations go to The Helping Center; Burnet canned goods go to LACare.

The contest ends two days before the Mustangs-Bulldogs football game Oct. 10.

In 2024, Marble Falls won the Battle of the Cans, but Burnet bested the Mustangs on the field.

The Marble Falls school district needs the following items for The Helping Center:

  • canned soup
  • canned meats
  • canned vegetables
  • baking essentials
  • stuffing mix

Burnet needs the items below for LACare:

  • canned meat
  • canned spaghetti sauce (no glass jars)
  • canned vegetables
  • canned soups
  • baking essentials
