  • The Chess Club meets at the Spicewood Community Library on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m. All ages and skill levels welcome.
  • A wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the 117th anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s birth is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the Johnson Family Cemetery at LBJ Ranch. The public is welcome to attend.
  • Buchanan Art Gallery presents fall watercolor classes with artist Betty Biesler starting Thursday, Aug. 28, from 12:30-4 p.m. Classes are $40 each. Registration is required.
  • Kingsland’s AquaBoom was moved to Labor Day weekend, Friday-Sunday, Aug. 29-31. The festival, typically held around the Fourth of July, features parades, vendors, a car show, a hot-dog eating contest, live music, and fireworks.
  • Canyon of the Eagles is hosting a flood relief benefit on Saturday from 1-9 p.m. Enjoy family-friendly activities, food, drinks, and live music.
  • The Lake Buchanan Conservation Corp. holds its annual fish fry fundraiser Saturday from 4-7 p.m. in Buchanan Dam.
