CARTS launches all-in-one app experience

The Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) has launched an all-in-one rider experience powered by the Transit App. Passengers can plan their trip, book their ride, and pay their fare in one seamless, easy-to-use platform while still having the option to call in for personal assistance, CARTS recently announced.
The upgrade also makes it simple to share transit access by sending digital passes through the CARTS website, opening new doors for families, employers, and community organizations to help riders get where they need to go, according to a media release about the new service.
CARTS riders can now:
- plan seamless multimodal trips across Central Texas using the Transit App, which includes all CARTS services like Country Bus, CARTS NOW, 990 Metro Connector, and Interurban Coach, plus rideshares, electric bikes, CapMetro routes, and other local transit options;
- schedule same-day or future rides on Country Bus and CARTS NOW without leaving the app;
- buy fares securely right inside the Transit App—no extra apps or cash needed;
- gift a ride to a friend, family member, employee, or client at RideCARTS.com/fares-passes by clicking on the Token Transit “Send a Pass” option to instantly deliver a digital ticket;
- and plan and book fully accessible trips with the Transit App’s ability to work with screen readers, offer voice guidance, and connect to services equipped for wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
Nonprofits, social service agencies, and employers interested in joining the CARTS Community Pass Program can reach out to outreach@ridecarts.com to set up a custom account for bulk pass purchasing and distribution.
“Our goal is to make riding CARTS as easy as opening your phone,” said CARTS General Manager Dave Marsh in a media release announcing the transporation improvements. “This upgrade brings trip planning, booking, and fare payment together in one place—designed for all riders, including those with accessibility needs. We’re committed to ensuring nobody is left behind, so for anyone who prefers personal assistance, our call-in option will always be available.”
The Capital Rural Area Transportation System offers low-cost regional transporation for the non-urbanized areas of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson counties.
