The Pedernales Electric Cooperative is accepting nominations now through Sept. 19 for the new Power Player Award, which recognizes high school student-athletes who serve their communities on and off the field and court.

Nominees should exhibit good sportsmanship, leadership, dedication, and concern for those around them.

“From balancing practices, homework, volunteering, and fundraising, these athletes are busy and driven,” said Mikayla Herron, PEC Community Outreach specialist, in a media release announcing the award. “They lead and inspire in the classroom and on the field and bring out the best in their peers and their community. We want to recognize their efforts, sportsmanship, and achievements.”

Nominate a high school athlete for the Power Player Award by Sept. 19. Students must attend high school within or surrounded by PEC’s service area. The co-op will announce winners in the fall.

PEC’s Power Player Award joins other awards given out each year through the cooperative’s community engagement programs, including the Teacher Spotlight and Community Transformer.
