Raymond L. Bales, 93, passed away April 26, 2025

It is with a Heavy Heart that we announce the recent passing of our Daddy, Raymond L. Bales. He was born April 24, 1932, and passed April 26, 2025, two days after his 93rd birthday. He was born in Rosebud, Texas, to Benjamin and Vada Bales.
He served in the United States Army, where he worked in communications. He took this to a career working with General Telephone Company (GTE), retiring from there after 35 years.
He married Viola Kotulek Bales on January 2, 1954. They were married for 48 years upon her passing in 2002. They moved to Marble Falls from Seymour, Texas, in January 1969. His favorite place was RaVi Acres, where he and Viola enjoyed raising cattle and always having an amazing garden. He loved hunting, fishing, and taking his grandkids around the property on tractors or “cushy.”
Raymond is survived by his sisters Benny Lain, Louise Whitten, and Doris Jones. His surviving children are: daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Gary Dilworth of Kingsland, son David Bales of Kingsland, daughter Brenda Bales of Austin, daughter Kathy Bales of Houston, and son and daughter-in-law Micheal and Rebecca Bales of Kingsland. Also surving him are 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; parents, Ben and Vada Bales; sisters Marie Riggins and Lorene Davis; his oldest son, Ray Lynn; one grandson, Lucas Griffith; one great-grandson, Olaf Moore; and his second wife, Novella Bales.
Raymond moved to Kingsland Windchimes Assisted Living in January 2024, where he greeted everyone with a smile and a low “high-five.” We would like to thank the staff at St. David’s Hospital in Austin for their care and compassion.
A private graveside will be held at Marble Falls Cemetery with a Celebration of Life planned at a later date.
