Marble Falls High School student-welders Mark Villalobos (left), Roman Brown, and Mario Cortez won gold with their fabrication project at the SkillsUSA District 10 Leadership and Skills Conference Contest at Texas State Technical College on Feb. 14. The annual competition tests the professional skills of students in a wide array of disciplines, including welding, carpentry, culinary arts, and healthcare occupations. Villalobos, Brown, and Cortez will compete at the SkillsUSA State Conference from April 2-5 in Corpus Christi for a shot at the national conference in June. Other Mustangs advancing to state are Paityn Garcia, LT Gurganus, and Lucas Lout in carpentry; Esther Baker, Tim Fogle, Colton Milam, Sebastian Jimenez, and Brandon Seely in welding; Aiden Gillen in construction materials identification; Brayden Jones and Eleanor Charles in tool identification; and Tim Fogle and Christopher Meissen in video production.
