Burnet, Marble Falls track athletes advance to state

Track-and-field athletes from Burnet and Marble Falls high schools cruised through competition April 19-22 at the Class 4A Region 3 meet at Bullard High School.

A total of five Burnet County athletes qualified for the Class 4A state track meet, which is May 2-4 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Burnet senior Brayden Hill is headed to state after setting a school record in the pole vault with an astounding 15-foot-6-inch finish.

Burnet junior Victor Aviles qualified for the state meet in three different events. He joined Hill in the school record books, finishing the 800-meter run in first place with a time of 1 minute 52 seconds. 

Other Burnet state qualifiers are senior Grant Jones in the long jump and senior Brady Rygaard in the pole vault. 

Marble Falls junior Tyler Hamblin was the only Mustang athlete to qualify for state. He finished third in the 3200-meter run in 9 minutes 28 seconds.
