October waste collection events in Burnet, Llano counties

Burnet and Llano counties are holding mass waste collection events in October, giving residents a chance to do away with trash that is normally tough to toss. The events are mostly free to the public and supported by local governments, utility providers, and community organizations.
Burnet County’s household hazardous waste collection is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Burnet County Reuse and Recycle Center, 2411 FM 963 in Burnet.
Llano County is holding a residential bulk waste collection from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 7 at the Llano County Annex, 8347 RR 1431 in Buchanan Dam.
BURNET COUNTY RULES
- Bring residential waste only. No commercial or industrial waste will be accepted.
- Items should be kept in their original containers and properly sealed.

- Car tires up to 24 inches; NO rims. First 10 tires are free; $3 per tire after 10.

- Televisions; NO wooden consoles
- Used motor oil and filters
- Petroleum-based paints, stains, and varnishes
- Antifreeze
- Household hazardous chemicals
- Compressed gas cylinders, aerosols and camp stoves
- Fluorescent lamp bulbs; NO compact fluorescent bulbs
- Transmission and brake fluid
- Pool chemicals
- Lawn and garden chemicals
- Scrap metal; NO lawn mowers or appliances
LLANO COUNTY RULES
- Bring residential waste only. No industrial waste or commercial waste will be accepted. Standard household waste will not be accepted.
- Items should be kept in their original containers and properly sealed.
- Consider the “Adopt-a-Barrel” program with a $50 donation to support future Llano County bulk collection events.
