The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook with a wind advisory for Burnet and Llano counties from 9 p.m. Thursday, March 16, through noon Friday. Winds are expected to reach 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Residents should secure outdoor furniture and be prepared for power outages and hail. Tornadoes are possible.

“You get a lot of damage at these speeds,” Llano County Emergency Management Coordinator Gilbert Bennett told DailyTrib.com. “Even first responders take heed when responding in this kind of weather.”

The forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of rain with thunderstorms expected. Temperatures should drop into the 30s overnight.

As of early Thursday afternoon, the worst of the storm is expected just after midnight.

Bennett recommends having a plan in place to deal with power outages and to secure outdoor items that winds could pick up.
