The Highland Lakes Service League is accepting applications for its annual scholarships for women returning to college or pursuing updated training or certification programs. The deadline to apply is April 15.

Scholarships are not applicable to graduating high school seniors.

Women applicants must:

  • live and work in Burnet and Llano counties;
  • be enrolled in an educational institution and have a student ID at the time of application;
  • and include a resume, all transcripts, and a current grade-point average.

An interview with the nonprofit group’s Scholarship Committee is required for selected applicants. In support of local workforce needs, preference is given to women who plan to stay in Burnet and Llano counties after obtaining their degree or certification.

Visit the league’s scholarship webpage for an application and more information.

Since 2011, the Highland Lakes Service League, a women’s volunteer organization, has funded more than $120,000 in scholarships, according to a Feb. 21 media release. In 2022 alone, it gave $21,000 to support women’s educational pursuits.

The group raises money for scholarships through its annual Chuck Wagon Chow Down held in January.
